Marrakesh (Oct 09) : Every half term, (we have three terms a year) I take one of my three sons off on a little cultural or educational trip, this autumn it was the turn of my middle son James. We flew to Madrid and then travelled down to Algeceras by train, got the ferry over to Tangers, Morocco and then an over night train down to Marrakesh.

Cordoba (Oct 09) : Every half term, (we have three terms a year) I take one of my three sons off on a little cultural or educational trip, this autumn it was the turn of my middle son James. We flew to Madrid and then travelled down to Algeceras by train, got the ferry over to Tangers, Morocco and then got an over night train down to Marrakesh. On the way back we spent a couple of days in what is probably one of my top 10, perhaps 5 cities I've every seen, Cordoba. Cordoba has almost as much history as Jerusalem, Roman, Christian, Islamic (Moors) and now Christian again, there's the famous cathedral built in the middle of a mosque, simply stunning.
Of course being Spain, breakfast doesn't starts before 10am, lunch in the middle of the afternoon, then siesta and finally dinner at about 10pm or often later, a very easy way of life. Sangria, Sherry and Tapas are the main diet and very good it is too, I can't wait to go back there.

These photos are of the first evening in Madrid, a wonderful nigh city.

Jordan (Jul 09) : A few shots of the Roman ruins in Jerash, northern Jordan. I was out there working for a few days with a partner company in Amman, my flight was at noon so nipped off at 6am in the morning to see the ruins before heading off to the airport.
Sadly 45 minutes walking around one of the largest and best kept Roman cities in the world is far from enough, I was lucky enough to have the place pretty much to myself though so there was an upside.
Jordan is a fantastic country, friendly people, wonderful food and plenty of history, I only wish I had more time, I hope I get invited back.
